I Am A YouTube Star: Christmas Music Edition

I've finally hit the big time.  Thanks to the one and only Xiaoshi Wei, here are some YouTube clips from the annual Indiana Folklore and Ethnomusicology Christmas Coffeehouse.  Enjoy!

The first two take the form of the epic megagroup Xiaoshi Wei & the Jagermeisters.  The band consists of: 3-4 guitars, a toy guitar used as a slide, mandolin, ukulele, musical saw, dan bau, washboard, charango, and upright bass.

1) Mele Kalikimaka: The Hawaiian Christmas Song

2) Christmas in Jail

The next two take the form of Timon and myself with some special guests posing as our  bodyguards/rhythm section.

3) Carol of the Bells/Greensleeves

4) Hong Kong Blues (Hoagy Carmichael)

Happy New Year.

My Favorite Weird Christmas Songs

Here's a list of some odd Christmas songs I like and some pretty random YouTube versions to increase the whole oddness of the listening/viewing experience.

1. "Dominick the Donkey" by Ray Allen

2. "Meli Kalikimaka: The Hawaiian Christmas Song" by R. Alex Anderson (a good version exists by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters)

3. "Ay, Ay, Ay, It's Christmas" by Rickey Martin

4. "Come On, Let's Boogey to the Elf Dance" by Sufjan Stevens

5.  And because I couldn't find a YouTube video, one of my favorite Christmas songs: "Merry Christmas" by Wesley Willis.
